So I’m working on a longer piece about the Winc IPO and what the data tells us, but there are a few interesting tidbits already from a quick glance. Here’s what you need to know in a nutshell:
- 120,000 active members
- Last year they sold 430,000 cases of wine
- They LOST $7 million bucks last year
While the loss is slightly surprising and reminds me that they’re playing a different game than I was. For Winc it’s all about growth and the wine club continues to be one of the most interesting tales in the space in large part because Winc is the first real trip for Venture Capital into the wine market. I’ll be fascinated to see how this turns out over time and when Winc ends up turning a profit. For more, read my Winc Review.
